This short guide will help you navigate your capstone project's Google group. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact kat@bren.ucsb.edu.
Purpose
Bren requires that your capstone group has an email alias that can forward emails to your entire group. This way, Bren staff/faculty/your clients/your team will have a single email address that will forward the email to the entire group. We are currently using UCSB Google Groups for this service.
Getting Started
To find your Capstone Google Group, sign into your UCSB email, follow the link below, and click on your capstone project: https://groups.google.com/my-groups
This is what your Google group home page should look like:
Conversations/Approved = where you find all emails that have been sent to your email alias.
Conversations/Pending = depending on your group settings, you can choose to moderate emails that get sent to your google group. this is where you will approve/deny emails that get sent to your email alias
People = where you'll add/remove/manage members
About = where you'll find information on your group
Group Settings = please visit this tab to make sure that the settings work for your group's needs
Sending Emails
To use your email alias to contact clients directly, please visit this link for instructions:
To send emails to the group, you can either send from your own Inbox to the email alias or by selecting "New Conversation" in your Google group home page.
To send emails from your email alias, select "New Conversation" then select your group's email alias in the drop-down menu next to your email:
Review organizational settings
At the bottom left corner, there is a tab labeled "Group settings." Please review and modify the settings according to your group's needs.
