Google Chromebooks/Chrome Devices are a type of computer that can augment or replace your Mac or PC laptop. Chrome devices cost much less, are more secure and can perform many of the computer related tasks you might need to do.
In this article, we share via a series of videos information on the different types of Google Chrome devices and a sampling of Chromebooks. In general, most of the Google Chrome devices are laptops, called Chromebooks. There are also devices called: Chromebox (super small computer to connect to keyboard/mouse monitors), Chromebase (integrated monitor/chrome device) and Chromestick(small device you connect to monitor/tv).
Chromebooks cost between $179-$400, but there are some models that cost more (added memory, processor speed, features).
Having a Chromebook for a 2nd, inexpensive laptop to take to coffee shops, vacations, and leave in your trunk, so you don't have to worry about losing your $2,000 macbook or PC to theft might be a good idea for some people.
The Compute team have chromebooks to loan (day and weekend) if you are interested in seeing what they can do!
